FINALLY!
Let's start talking about that really awesome cruise we went on over a month ago!
(Just too many things happening in the month of May--time to catch up)
I have SOOOOO many pictures, so I'll try to only post the best ones- Day 1 through Day 7 (yikes, are you in for 7 posts?). The rest are going into a MEXICAN RIVIERA CRUISE 2012 book I'm making on Mixbook.
Let's get started...
Sunday, May 6th: Setting Sail
Since Rob & I were in Colorado having an awesome couple's getaway, Drake boarded a plane to California with Grandma & Grandpa and all the rest of the Payne hooligans (my brothers and sisters).
I was sad that I was going to miss watching his excitement through the whole experience, so everyone was great to send me lots of pictures so I could live the moment with them. I really appreciated that!
I was told that he was so excited and hilarious to watch!
Meanwhile, Rob & I were flying from Colorado to SLC for a layover (way behind the rest of the fam) and then from SLC to California.
Look how excited Drake was to finally be getting on the "BIG BOAT." Grandma made Drake a "Cruise Book" a couple weeks before we went on this trip (which was such a great idea and I'd recommend that to anyone). It had pictures of the airplane they'd go on, the cruise ship, the fun things we'd do on the cruise, and the beach. We'd been talking about this trip for weeks so I think Drake was probably shocked that the whole thing was actually, FINALLY coming true!
Beautiful CARNIVAL SPLENDOR
This is a picture of a picture, but a fun shot of all of them boarding the ship. I'm in love with Drake's excited face!
After a couple of hours we were....REUNITED and it felt SO GOOD!
Robby & I were so excited to see Drake after being away from him for 4 days and he was actually pretty excited to see us too, which always warms a Mommy's heart. :)
We had lunch, took naps, explored the ship, and freshened up for our first dinner on the cruise ship...
And, it did not disappoint!
*First and foremost, I got my coveted Diet Coke. Something I love about cruises is that the waiter remembers the drink you ordered the very first day and then always has that drink sitting at the table waiting for you when you come to dinner each night.
*Drake was so excited that they had macaroni and cheese on the kids menu (his favorite meal)! Guess what? He ordered it 5 out of 7 nights on our cruise. I was sure that at any moment he was going to turn into a giant macaroni noodle. He loved it and I can understand why- it was delicious!
*Happy 2nd Anniversary to Tyler & Staci! How lucky were they that their anniversary was the day we began the cruise. Couldn't get much better!
*Dessert...well I don't even know what to say here. My number one favorite dessert is creme brulee and my number one other favorite dessert is anything chocolate so I was a pretty happy gal this night. That creme brulee was to die for! And, if you've been on a Carnival cruise before you will know all about their FAMOUS warm chocolate melting cake. Every person in our family had it EVERY single night. No lie. (Suddenly, my five pound weight gain is starting to make sense....haha!)
What a great start to a GREAT trip!
