Today is Drake's HALF BIRTHDAY!
Happy 2.5 to my little buddy!
I'm dying that you'll be 3 in six months! 3 just sounds SO OLD.
(Which also means that Christmas is in 6 months- What?!)
Today, we had a fun day for your half birthday!
I wanted to tell you a little about yourself at 2 1/2 years old...
You weigh 30 pounds.
You are 3 feet 2 inches tall (38 inches).
You wear a size 8 shoe and a size 2T-3T in clothes.
You love to watch TV and movies. Y our favorites are: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, the Toy Story movies, How to Train Your Dragon, Curious George movie, Madagascar, and The Lion King.
Your favorite toys to play with are your sports things- bats, balls, golf clubs, etc. Your favorite sports right now are soccer, golf, and baseball. You still love football and basketball too.
Dad takes you to the driving range about once a week. You have a real driver and real putter just your size and you absolutely love to go hit with Dad. One time while you and Dad were hitting balls there, a man was next to you teaching his girlfriend how to golf. She was having a hard time hitting the ball and she said to her boyfriend, "Look, even that 2 year old is better than me!"

You love to watch sports on TV with Dad, especially Sports-center and basketball games. You can point out who LeBron James is on the TV. When you are playing basketball outside, you'll say things like, "I wanna dunk like Yebron!" :)
Your other favorite toys right now are guns, cars, puzzles, and blocks. And suddenly over the past week, you are really into coloring and like to color several times a day. You tell us that you are coloring a picture for Hunter or from Grandma & Grandpa Hunsaker on their missions. :)
You can name most all shapes and main colors.
You can count to 15 (kinda).
You know how to say your full name, "Dwake Wobert Hunseeker!"
You can point out the letters in your first name.
And you know what city you live in and what city Grandma Sheri lives in.

Something new about you- you really are starting to have a great memory! We will tell you something that we are going to be doing later that day or even later that week and you will remember it. This is new! In the morning, you like us to talk about all the things that we will be doing that day. Then at night, we talk about all the things that we did and you can name most all of them. You're so fun!
We wish that you were ready to potty train, but you show no interest in it. And, that's ok!
You still have your binki, but only for sleeping. We tried cutting the tip off to get rid of it about two months ago and it was a bad experience, so we decided we'd wait until you understand a bit more. It seems like it's the only thing that ties you to being a baby- so we are really lenient about letting you keep it! And boy, how you love that thing!
Another thing that keeps you young is the fact that you still won't go to Nursery at church by yourself. You are going to be going to Primary in January, so we have 6 months to rid you of your stranger anxiety. We can do this buddy! :)
You LOVE to sing. You sing so well in Nursery (even if you won't stay by yourself, you still love it) and know so many songs. You pick up and remember them so easily. You love the Primary Songs, the USU Aggie Song, many nursery rhymes, and the song "We Are Young" by the band Fun. (Hilarious!)
You are starting to be scared of different things. Spiders scare you (this is mommy's fault). You are intrigued by bugs, but you only like to look at them. You won't hold them. You sometimes wake up at night crying like you've had a bad dream and one time you had us close the closet door because you were scared.
But, your biggest and most recent fear is fire trucks. We don't know where this came from, but when you hear a siren, you freeze in fear. Whenever you hear anything that resembles a siren, you run to us- "Oh no, it's a Fioh Twuck!" This is you when you heard one outside the other day-

We are trying to teach you about them so you won't be scared and we are going to go tour the Fire Station sometime soon. (Any advice on this? It's so sad...)
You love to be outside. You are so happy when you are outside. You play in the backyard everyday! You love to play sports, jump on the tramp, swing on the swings or go down the slide, dig in the dirt, or play in the water.
You love the pool and love to swim. You just finished taking swimming lessons and it has been so good for you. You have no fear of the water. You now love to dunk your head under and hold your breath for as long as possible and you like to lay down in the bathtub and float. You can jump off the diving board into the water too. We are so proud of you!
We love the way you talk and your cute little phrases. "Hey!" (which I think you say a hundred times a day whenever you're mad about something), "That would be cool" or "That would be fun", "Let's go play outside with Mommy!" (you say this to Mommy when you want her to know that she HAS to come play too), "I wanna watch a moooooovie." and "No way!"

Today, we had a fun day for your half birthday!
You played basketball in the morning at the church with Daddy, then we went to the Brigham pool as a family, then you took a nap, then we went on a walk to the temple a YM/YW thing, then we went to dinner at Peach City with your friends Ava and Axel.
What a fun day for you!

There are so many funny, cute things you say. Basically, you just talk non-stop, all the time. You talk about the things around you as you learn about them. It's a blast to watch and hear you learning.
You sometimes have quite the spunky attitude and can be stubborn. When you don't want to do something, you will NOT do it. But you also have the sweetest disposition. You feel so bad when you hurt someone's feelings. You are great to say you're sorry and give hugs and kisses (sometimes). :) I love that you have started saying thank you all by yourself. The other day, I got you a new coloring book and all day you told me, "Thank you so much, Mom. I wuv it!"
You are crazy! You are loud! You never stop going, going, going all day long! You are definitely a boy through and through, but we love every single thing about you. We hope you always know that!
We love you so much buddy! We love your WHITE blonde hair and your BLUE eyes.
Happy half birthday to you bud!
We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!
Love,
Mommy (and Daddy).

Love this little boy more than you'll ever know!
Love it linny!:) made me teary eyed!
I LOVE this post! It's fun to see, in detail, how older kids are developing! So much to look forward to! Drake is such a sweetheart and I can't believe he is 2 1/2! Where does the time go?! Also... maybe I'm weird, and maybe I have a chunky monkey on my hands, but Nora weighs 8 lbs less than Drake and she is not a year old yet! LOL! Is that normal?! haha...
