Last Friday (December 10th) we had the greatest experience at the temple. My sister Staci had done some genealogy work on my dad's family a few months ago and found several names that needed temple work done. We didn't have time to do all of it since there is a lot to be done, but we did get the opportunity to do sealings for the dead.
I have done temple work many times before and I'm always interested to see the names I get to do, see where they were from, and the year they were born. Usually they are from decades, even centuries ago and names I haven't heard before.
Well, this time we had the amazing opportunity of doing temple work for my dad's aunts. Somehow, the sealing of his two aunts to their parents (my dad's grandparents) got missed over the years.
I don't have words to descibe how neat it was to have my mom and dad act as my dad's grandparents (my great-grandparents) and Staci and I act as our great-aunts. We all knelt across the altar in the temple and were able to seal the two women to their parents.
I could feel family all around us. Family that is no longer with us on this earth, but was with us in the temple that day.
It was truly amazing.
I am so thankful for the temple.

Good for Stac!!! That really does sound like an amazing experience.
Way to go, Staci! The New Family Search is so user-friendly and allows even us non-techies to enjoy the blessings. We have been working on Greg's ancestors and understand your feelings regarding doing temple work for your own family members. What an amazing experience for your Mom and Dad and their two daughters!
