Day with Dad & the Ducks

My Dad came to stay this last weekend! Work needed him out here and we LOVE when that happens. He was here from Thursday-Tuesday, but unfortunately, I didn't feel like I got to spend much time with him. We did go out to dinner and have some fun times at the house and the kids and Rob got to see him lots, but I worked two weekend night shifts while he was here which made me real sick for the last 2 days he was here. No more night shifts! Seriously, I called my staffing agency and said I'm done with nights. I get sick EVERY time! Anyways, back to Dad...

I'm so glad that we did take the time to do at least one really fun thing while he was here and that was to go to Howarth Park.
For the amount of times we've been here, you'd think we are such a boring family and need to venture out more and try new places, but we just LOVE this park. It's so close and Drake adores it and we always have a great experience. Why fix what ain't broke? (Did I just type ain't?....I hate that word. It applies here thought, right?) :)

Anyways, we had a blast, and much to Drake's complete and total amusement, we rented a paddle-boat....which we've done once before and swore we'd never do again...ya, we did it again. And our thoughts the 2nd time....don't ever rent a paddle-board again! They move so slow and take a lot of work. Oh well, Drake had fun and we had this awesome experience-

Well first, Sara cutie in her life vest...awwww so adorable!
So, we're on the paddle-boat racing trolling toward any ducks we see so Drake can try to feed them, and around a little bend, we spot this beautiful swan family a ways off.
We paddle toward them, but can't get close as someone's fishing line is near them. So we turn around and start heading back towards the middle of the lake, when....they start following us...coming closer and closer until they were right next to us. It was magical! And super awesome! Am I getting overly-excited about these swans? I don't know, maybe...but, we thought it was pretty cool!
And Dad (oh, Dad) throws flaming hot Cheetos at them. What the?
Ah well, I guess they liked them, cause they stayed close. :)
Beautiful! And those cute little babies too!
This duck wanted in on the Cheetos as well.

What a fun time on the lake! (Maybe the paddle-boat isn't quite so bad)
The boys tried out the canoe afterwards and said we will definitely be doing that instead next time-
After the lake, it was off to do the favorites-
Train-ride
Carousel
Playground
And for the first time....the pony rides were open!
We LOVED having my Dad here! Come back soon!

Video of the swans-
(My favorite is Drake- "Can we just go and not see the swans?")
