Elder & Sister Hunsaker...Part 2...Farewell

Rob's parents had their farewell on New Years Day!
Their talks were beautiful and very inspiring especially for the new year. Rob & I were able to sing a duet in sacrament meeting which went well. And, we had several family members come up for the day- Chad & Jill's family, and 3 sets of aunts and uncles. It was a great day spent with family visiting and playing games!

Chad is the coolest uncle and played lots with Drake. Drake loved it!

Eric Portellano (an old mission companion of Robert's) and his wife Fabienne are in America on vacation. They are from Switzerland. The only time Robert & Eric could arrange to see each other was on the day of the farewell so they joined us for dinner at Rob's parents home. I had never met Eric and it was so fun to get to know him and his wife. I can see why him & Rob got along so well- what a great guy! They were funny to watch as they just picked up from where they left off and hung out like old friends.
They had never been four-wheeling before so we took them on a quick, mild Sunday ride. The open space was extremely new to them.
Who's that stud-muffin?

After the Portellano's left (they were only there for a couple of hours), we spent the day with family. It was wonderful and relaxing. I can't even think about Calvin & Nancy leaving without getting all emotional about it. We are going to miss them so much. Drake is going to miss them so much. It's going to be hard, but we are so thankful for their example and service. And as my SIL Jill says- We can't keep them all to ourselves- they are just too amazing not to share!

They seem like such amazing in-laws. They will be awesome missionaries!!
What a treat for Rob to hang out with an old companion. That's rad!
And Rob and his older brother look so much alike. Crazy.

I don't know them a bit but from all of the pictures you've posted of them over the past year, they just seem like genuinely wonderful people with so much to offer. Yep, it will be hard but what a great example for you and your family!

Grandma and Grandpa Hunsaker are certainly leaving a legacy of faith for all their kids and grandkids. What terrific people to serve time and time again. We hope we can do the same in a few years.

Also, some of our best friends are Greg's missionary buddies and their wives. Those are great relationships. How fun for you and Rob.
