The face we LOVE

At 21 months, Drake-
Eats constantly,
Whines a lot,
Gives slobbery kisses,
Loves bike rides and walks,
Eats lots of fruit,
Still loves balls and especially "foo-fall" right now,
Throws tantrums,
Loves to get wet,
Makes mommy laugh her head off,
Makes mommy cry,
Loves visiting both grandmas and grandpas,
Watches his feet when he runs,
Is Obsessed with Mickey,
Screams "No!"
Says "Looove you" too, :)
Loves trucks, airplanes, motorcyles, & trains,
Vacuums and dusts with mommy,
Is going to start learning his colors and letters,
Tells us when he poops,
Loves every animal there is,
Never stops going, going, going all day long,
Points out the bugs outside,
Floods the bathroom when he's splashing in the bathtub,
Screams with excitement when the doorbell rings,
Sings and sings and sings,
Won't stay in nursery yet,
Is Loud,
Is silly,
Runs, jumps, and throws himself all over the place,
Always has a scabbed knee,
Wants to be involved in whatever mom and dad are doing,
Learns new words everyday,
Hates taking naps for mom,
Takes great naps for dad (BOO),
Laughs hard when he toots or burps,
Knows how to get his way,
Wakes up grumpy from naps and needs to be cuddled with a blanket for at least 10 minutes while he wakes up,
Talks on the phone,
Wants a hat on at all times,
Is obsessed with everyone's shoes,
Is impossible to keep clean,
and
Is an angel and a giant stinker at the same time.

Life with a toddler is up and down and all around.
The days feel like they will never end, but the weeks fly by too fast.
We're laughing and giggling and playing one minute and then in time-out the next.
There's hitting and pulling hair and lots of trying to show mom & dad how he feels, but not knowing how to express his feelings.
Then there's giggles and smiles and hugs and kisses and lots of "Love you's"
I want to spank his little bum one moment, then cover his face with kisses the next.
Life is perfect, yet frustrating.
Bliss, yet exhaustion.

I think I need to start reading some parenting books. haha

Overall though, there is lots and lots of LOVE for that beautiful little face.
One of our favorite things Drake does right now is play pretend.
He doesn't do it with very many things, but what he did just start playing pretend is-
READING SCRIPTURES, SINGING HYMNS, and SAYING PRAYERS.
The other day, I was working on my computer in the office and Drake was playing on the bed with a hymn book. I was tuning him out, but then suddenly focused in and realized what he was doing.
He would open the hymn book and sing monotonely (so funny), then he'd snap it shut, fold his arms, bow his head, and close his eyes for about 5 seconds, then jump up and shout "Amen!"
He did it over and over again.
He's started doing the same thing with his Children's Scriptures where he'll sit on the couch and pretend read, then kneel down on the floor and pretend pray. (We read scriptures with him at night and then kneel for family prayer before he goes to bed)
We catch him doing it all the time (pretend praying the most).
It really is so funny and so adorable!
It's also nice to know that he is catching on to SOMETHING we are trying to teach him.
I just never want to forget this little thing he has been doing so I had to record it here.

Wow, I can totally relate- our kids must be the same age?? Danielle just learned NO this last week, and its already very over-used! I'm not sure how I'm going to handle #2 - it's going to be interesting

That truly is an adorable little face and it's a good thing, isn't it? Parenting is the hardest thing you'll ever love! Such a sweet post, Lindsay! Love you!
