LOOK WHO'S WALKING NOW!!!
We are so proud of Drake!
He learned to walk at 13 1/2 months!
He's been so close for such a long time and then started doing the whole "knee-walk" (see January post on that one) thing in January so it feels like - FINALLY! He's walking! Even though, 13 1/2 months is not old at all to start.
Robert got home from work and was playing with Drake. He'd set a yogurt treat on the couch and sit about 5 feet away and help Drake walk to it. Then he'd slowly back up more and more and Drake got so that he was doing it on his own. He took about 5 steps and we were so excited!
Then, after dinner, we decided to work with him a little more, but this time, we used the basketball as an incentive. Drake loves the basketball! I sat about 10 feet away from Drake and Dad with the basketball, Rob helped Drake to get started, and then Drake just took off after the basketball. So, I jumped up and backed down the hall, saying "Let's see how far he'll go!" He ended up walking all the way through our family room and down the hall. We were in shock!
So then, of course, we spent the rest of the night helping him to do it over and over again. He was giggling so much. I could tell he was so proud of himself and quite shocked about what he was doing as well!
He thought he was pretty cool!
I'm amazed with his balance. Minutes after taking his first steps, he could already bend down and pick up the basketball, stand up and throw it, and walk after it. He also learned how to turn around, and how to take off on his own from furniture. I really think he has been ready to do it for a long time now.
He even walked to bed with his bottle...
Now, he just needs to learn how to get to a standing position on his own, but he will get there, and he is doing great! I'm having a blast with him at home working on walking!

YIPPEE!!! Congrats Drake! SEE! I told you he was nothing like my nephew! There was no need to worry! Drake has awesome coordination! I love that he is walking after the basketball! Too cute! What a big boy!

The girls are so excited to see Drake walking! Robert they loved hearing your voice. Lindsay, Emma wants to see more movies of Drake and of your house and Sasha. We love you guys. So happy for Drake to walk, we hope you are happy about it too!
Katelyn was over at our house when she got your text showing Drake walk. We were all jumping up and down watching him. He is so cute. He just needed a little confidence and off he went. I love how proud he looks. Way to go Drakester!!!
