Update from Petaluma

Robert sent this email to our family  and I think it's a great "journal entry" for our blog to remember this time in our lives!

Hey everyone I figured I would send out an update to let everyone know what is going on.

Work is going well.  I am still figuring things out with the company, but I am able to keep myself plenty busy right now projects that need to get done.  Right now I am working on getting our inventory in order, cleaning up our inventry in the computer system, making sure the costs are listed correctly (meaning that I need to make sure that we are taking freight costs into consideration when considering the cost of the product), I am working with Nicky, my boss who is a great guy, on tightening down on pricing so that we are more exact, this is in connection with making sure our costs are correct.  Those are pretty much my main things right now that I keep an eye on with other little ones along the way.  The management side of things is actually very easy, because the people that I work with are awesome and so I don't have to do a whole lot of watching over them.  We are working on getting organic certified so that we can use our small mill that we have here to mill "organic" flour, and so that we can take a 50 pound bag of flour and break it down into 5 pound bags and be able to call it organic still.  We have an inspection on the 13th of September for that so we are running around getting ready for that.  I have been out here for a month now and am really enjoying the town.  If you have been following the Little League World Series, the Team representing the West region is from Petaluma and is playing for the National Championship today, so go Petaluma.  It has been fun to be here for that, you can go to a sports bar and grill and watch the game, go downtown where they have it playing outside on a big screen, or go the the big movie theater here who has reserved 4 theaters for the games and let you go in and watch the games there. I am definitely glad that we are transitioning to California the way we are, even though it sucks being away from the family, because it allows me to work a ton during the week while I am trying to get a handle on things and I don't have to feel guilty about not going home and spending time with the family.  As for how things are coming with the move, we just put our house up for sale here and are hoping that things go well with the sale.  So if you know of anyone needing a home in Brigham please point them our way!!!  Maybe an older couple that wants to work at the temple will want to come and buy our home.  We are all headed to Denver over Labor day weekend for a my friend Kolton's wedding.  Drake is the Ring boy or whatever you call them so we will see how that goes.  Then we come home so I can spend a day or 2 there, go through the Brigham Temple for the Open House, and then back to California.  So the easiest way to tell you about the job is to tell you about the Pro's and Con's so here you go

Pro's

- THE WEATHER is absolutely amazing!!!!!!
- great working in the business environment and being involved or in charge of so many business decisions
- Great work environment where I can drive a forklift, help bake bread, mill some flower, or play pool when I need a break from the computer
- love the people that I work with
- no one constantly watching over my shoulder
- great company that is growing quickly
- Free Bread from our bakery downstairs when Nicky or Keith decide to relieve some stress and go bake
- Golf (luckily came into a company and an area that loves to golf)
- Restaurants here are amazing and I can't believe how many different ones there are in such a small town.
- Giants and 49ers

Con's

- Quality Inn is getting a little old, might have to switch over to Motel 6 next month just for a change
- Being away from Linds and Drake for 2-3 weeks at a time really sucks
- Traffic when I want to go into San Fransisco

That's about all that I can think of. Have a great weekend everyone.
