This last weekend, I flew to Petaluma to see Robert and become more familiar with the area. This trip was booked awhile ago and was originally planned to look for housing. Since we hadn't put our house up for sale in Brigham yet, we thought it was a little premature to find an apartment, so we didn't end up looking for a place at all. I will go out again in September for that. It was actually really nice though to have nothing planned. Rob and I were able to spend some time together and it was a very relaxing trip.
Rob picked me up from the San Francisco airport Thursday night and took me to the most delicious, romantic Italian restaurant in the city. I didn't get a picture, but it was so neat that I had to mention it.
This is Rob's home right now-
Not too shabby! And it comes with a maid! :)
Rob's office-
Friday, Robby had to work and then go golfing with a banker for business (hard life!), so I spent the afternoon driving all around Petaluma and getting to know the area. I found it to be beautiful! It has a "Logan-type" feel, which I really love. There are a gazillion restaurants (the Bay area is really into specialty restaurants, cute little bistros, organic food, etc.) all of which look amazing and I can't wait to try! There's also an outlet mall where I was introduced to the Gap Outlet and had a really great time on my own.
Friday night (after a delicious dinner at the golf course and lottery where Rob won a new golf club!), we headed to Downtown Petaluma to walk around. This part of the city is the old-town part and it's just so gorgeous and quaint. There are hundreds of little shops, restaurants, antique stores, etc. So fun!
We found this amazing candy store that Drake would have a ball in! It was huge and had any type of candy your heart could desire. My favorite was the Willy Wonka area (bottom right) with Wonka candy all over and chairs to sit and watch the movie. That's where Rob planted himself while I walked around. :)
Another fun spot in Downtown Petaluma was this little massage parlor ran by the cutest Chinese people. $25 for an hour massage! Rob treated us both to massages Saturday morning.
Later that day, we spent more time in the Downtown area (I just love it and wanted to explore everything).
This guy pushes his piano all over and plays for tips- he was awesome!
That night we were able to meet up with Jenn & Claire (sister-in-law and niece) in Vallejo which is about 45 minutes from us. We had dinner at a pizza joint and visited. I'm so glad they live so close (about 2 hours away). It's going to make moving so much easier to have family close by!
Sunday, we attended one of the two Petaluma wards (wow, this is going to be different from Utah).
Then, Lindsay was dying to go see the ocean and Rob gave in even though he didn't want to. :)
We went the WRONG way and ended up driving for 2 hours to get to the beach (what should have been a 30-40 min. drive)
We discovered that Drake has his own beach in California!
But it's a freezing cold beach! Still beautiful though. Next time we'll bring wood for a fire!
This was a great trip to get to know Petaluma. I think (and hope) we'll love it there. I have to admit though that I REALLY missed Drake. I feel like I never see him lately because we are just constantly going and going and then I have to leave him for work twice a week. It was extremely bittersweet to have to leave my husband to go home to my little boy. I can't wait until we are all together again and have a schedule back.
I think he was OK at G&G's though. haha! Spoiled boy!
We are so thankful that Rob's work flew me out though. This company is amazing and we feel very blessed!
Last week I was excited about moving, this week I feel sad....we will see what next week brings?! :)
