Sometimes, it's really hard being a working mom. Even though I only work 2 (12-hour) night shifts a week, I still feel like I work a lot more than I'd like to. I look up to my fellow nurses who work full-time 3 nights a week. I am not complaining (really, not at all) because I know there is a reason I'm working right now and I really enjoy my job, but I feel I'm pretty stinky at balancing being a good nurse and being a good mom. It's hard doing both, but that's the phase of life we are in right now.
The point I'm getting at is.....
I LOVE my days off and the last 2 days off have been AWESOME!
Just amazing, fun-filled summer days!
Yesterday, my mom and I met up with one of my BEST friends from high school for lunch- Mrs. Jessica Wilkinson and darling Jordan James! (remember her fun basketball shower a few months back?)
She looks amazing and little Jordan is SOOOO cute! We couldn't get enough of his big observant eyes!
I love when you get together with friends and just pick up from where you last left off.
I hope this girly knows how much she means to me. :)
Last night, I lugged a new toy home from Walmart (thanks mom!)....A seat & helmet for Drake to go on my new bike!
Let me tell you about this bike.
I have wanted a bike for such a long time, but it just wasn't in our budget.
I've looked on KSL classifieds several times with no success, and when driving down our street the other day, our neighbors had not one, but TWO bikes outside with a poster- "$10 a piece. Leave money in mailbox"
Uh......OK!!!
So for 20 buckaroos, I got both Rob & I bikes!
They are a little old, but work just great and look fine to us.

I am beyond thrilled!
We went on a bike ride last night and although it was short-lasting since Rob got a flat tire, it was still one of those moments that you think to yourself, "Life is good and I love this moment with my little family."
Today was great too- exercise, lunch with our newly-released Relief Society Presidency (I will miss serving with each of them so much, but I'm excited to serve as the secretary again with our new RS presidency), ran into my dad while at lunch, grocery shopping, chocolate chip banana bread baking, family stopped by on their way to Logan, yummy dinner, and then my sweet sister is spending the night.
We rode the bikes with Drake to Redbox for a rental and then to Kents for SLUSHIES!
And now...Rob & I are heading to a movie while Hannah babysits.

I just really, really like the last 2 days and I needed to write that down so I can come back and read this on the days I'm hating life.
Thanks for listening!
Lastly,
I am finding it extremely hard to eat right this summer.
For example,
"Let's ride our bikes downtown and get slushies!" ----Fun, fun, fun!
versus
"Let's ride our bikes to Kents and buy a cucumber to munch on!"- Uh...no.

Hey - you need to think about it this way... "Yeah, I'm going to eat a slushie, BUT at least I'm riding my bike to get there! It'll be burned off (almost) by the time I get home." That's my justification for everything these days.. "I'm OK eating this root beer float cause I'm going to walk outside to dumpster to throw my cup away." :)
I LOVE the days like these ones!!! They are so great. And your bikes are awesome ---- what a fun find - you must be living right! I really need to get one of those seats for Cannon. Did you find it was pretty easy to ride with him on the back?
Haha cucumber, YUCK! :) Love this post, Linds! Family and friends combined with summer is the best!
Awesome! Really, 2 bikes for $20.00--that's sweet! I love this post! You are just awesome and I can tell just how happy you are! I think you do an amazing job juggling life as a mom and a working mom (i don't know how you do it) Love ya!
Sounds like a perfect two days to me! Summer is almost over so enjoy every day! You're a great nurse and they are needed desperately so we thank you for your sacrifice! I don't think Drake or Rob are suffering a bit. You're a great "juggler"! Love you!
