This last weekend, we had the AWESOME opportunity of traveling to Grand Junction, Colorado to see our best friends (and cousins) Chandler & Erica Burgon.
They moved from Logan to Grand Junction last year after Erica graduated from USU for Chandler to play basketball for Mesa State College.
We have been wanting to go watch him play all season and he had a tournament over the weekend so it was the perfect time to go visit.
We left Thursday night and got there around 10:30pm.
Drake was awesome and slept most of the way- so sweet...
I cannot tell you how good it was to see these two!
We just love them so much and have missed them immensely!
They are the greatest friends, the kind that you don't have to think about what to talk about or how to entertain yourselves when you are with them- you just hang out, talk, and do whatever and have the best time.
We used to do everything together when they lived here and we have missed them SO MUCH!
Drake quickly warmed up to both of them and loved them as much as we do!
They were so nice to let us stay in their new 2 bedroom apartment with them. I thought it would be a tight fit, but it ended up working out great. We were so appreciative since it saved us a lot of money from having to get a hotel.
Drake loves playing with balls and it didn't matter to him that they didn't have any baby toys. He played with this exercise ball the whole time.
He also loved their dog Shadow. Shadow came to play with Drakey in the tub one morning.
After arriving late Thursday night, we stayed up late talking and catching up, slept in the next morning, and then went with Chandler to Mesa State College for a tour of his school.
We stopped in the gift shop for souvenirs. Drake chose a b-ball of course and was as happy as can be with his purchase...
That night, we went to the first of Chan's 2 games.
It was so fun to watch him play and he's awesome!
Chandler's brother (and Rob's cousin) Colton also plays there.
Unfortunately, they lost that game, but we still had a great time together.
Drake clapped and clapped with the crowd.
On Saturday, Chan & Erica took us to a National Park to see the beautiful rock formations. It was a bit chilly, but the view was so worth it.
Drake had a ball hanging out with his best bud, Chandler.
Isn't the scenery gorgeous!?
After an amazing dinner at a brewery there, we went to Chandler's 2nd basketball game Saturday night.
And...they won! It was such an intense game. We had a great time!
Drake immediately fell in love with Erica when she pulled out a bag of M&M's for him at the game. Her whole family was in town for her brother's homecoming and she still the took the time to spend lots of time with us and with Drake. She is the sweetest, most beautiful person! Love you Erica!
Drake running free on the basketball court after the game.
Chandler's parents Josh & Kami and his sister Brooke. We loved hanging out with them and getting to know them better. Brooke was great with Drake- wish she lived closer and could babysit for us!!
The gang after Chan's big win!
(Notice our awesome Mesa State apparel...)
We had SO much fun with the Burgons and already miss them to pieces!
I also have to write here that Drake never ceases to amaze me- he is seriously the greatest baby ever!
We kept him up so late while we were down there and he hardly got any naps, yet he was so happy and content and just went with the flow. At the ballgames he either sat on our laps and watched the game or played between our legs with his toys. And the games were at 7pm & 8pm right at bedtime. I was so proud of him.
Thank you so much Chan & Erica for such a great weekend! We love you!
--------------------------
On our way home, we drove through Price so we stopped to see our friends Adam, Jasmine, and Danielle who also used to live by us in Logan. If you recall from when Drake was born- these two were born just 2 days apart and we love to get them together.
They fed us an amazing dinner and it was so nice to visit with them and let our kiddos play together.
We miss them too! Goodness everyone, STOP MOVING! haha
So thankful for GREAT friends!

What a fun weekend! Glad you got to get away for a little fun. Drake seems like the best natured little guy, not many little people his age would travel as it sounds like he did! You are an awesome mommy
