Any day now...

I've made it to 38 1/2 weeks! WAHOO! I'm unbelievably tired, swollen, have a bruised rib and something is seriously screwed up in my back, pretty ornery, but otherwise (haha) doing well! I'm seriously so ready to have him and I just can't wait any longer to meet him! My mom reminds me daily that you have to feel this uncomfortable so that you will be willing to go through all the pain to get them out. Since my previous whiny post though, I have worked on being happier and it really has helped. I feel like I can do this- just one day at a time! Since Thanksgiving, I really have felt happier and more thankful for this experience. The Christmas holidays have really helped- such a happy, spiritual time of year!

I started my maternity leave today and Wow, does it feel good to have work over with (12 hours night shifts are H-E-double hockey sticks when you're 9 months pregnant). That's definitely helped with my happier attitude! It feels so nice to finally be able to rest. I got my Christmas up and most all of my Christmas shopping done- such a relief! I had a little nervous attack today though. As we were driving to Tremonton for a basketball game, I realized I haven't packed our hospital bags yet! Yikes! Rob finished his finals today and he is on cloud nine! Such a good day!

When we found out we were due 2 days before Christmas, we debated about whether we'd rather have him before or after Christmas (like we get a choice). Well, we've easily decided- we want him BEFORE CHRISTMAS! So girlies- help me out- how do I put myself into labor??????

PS- As of my last appointment, I'm a fingertip dilated, -2 station. Not the greatest news, but that's okay! Suggestions!?

I tried everything! The only thing that ended up working? High blood pressure! Just for the day... Induction... Viola! Elle was here!

I wish I had suggestions...I was 7 days over due with Shelby and we tried EVERYTHING!!! They come when they are ready. Enjoy the time with your hubby, seriously, everyone laughs at me (and later tell me they wish they would have listened) but boy I wish I would have gone on 1 last date with Wade! :) Once baby comes you will not be able to as easily and all you will be thinking about is "i hope he is okay" lol I am excited for you, can't wait to hear your news!!!

Alright girl, here's what you do-

Evening Primrose Oil will help you to efface, says my midwife. YOu can get it at walmart in 1000mg pills and you take one a day. Actually, you would probably take 2 a day if you wanted. I'm not sure if this is actually what did it, but by the time I went into labor, I was 100% effaced.

I also took a supplement thast I got at a health food store that has red raspberry leaf and black and blue cohosh ROOT. I don't think its safe to take straight black/blue cohosh, but just the root is ok, again, says my midwife.

Crawling on all fours is supposed to help the baby into position which makes labor easier, not necessarily come faster. Plus it relieves all that darn pressure now that he's dropped into your pelvis.

And I don't know how to easily accomplish this one in this freezing cold weather, but walking is always good because it keeps you upright and keeps that baby down low.

Anyway, hope some of that helps. Call me if you have any questions, and DEFINITELY text me (or have Robbie text Cory) if anything happens before we're down in UT! (Which will be the 18th-29ish. We'd love to see you!)

Not that I have had kids or anything like unto it, but I have heard from different people that if you go on a good hard walk, obviously it is freezing outside so you would have to use a treadmill, but if you walk and get a little work out it usually helps. My old visiting teaching partner would go walk up the hill by the temple everyday. So there you go, that is my 2 cents, since I am such a pro at this you can take it for what its worth. But congrats on Maternity leave, that must be really nice to just be able to relax for awhile. Keep us posted on your little guys arrival!

DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP!!! i had good news for dilation for 3 weeks before my due date, had contractions, and lost my plug. BOTH OVER DUE! with my first we tried EVERYTHING (with the exception of castor oil, i refused) teas, pills, rides, WAY TOO MUCH sex(dont recommend, its ruins it) stripping of membranes, NOTHING worked for us. bottom line, it doesnt matter what you try, they wont come till they are ready. not to be the pooper of it all, but nothing is worse than being told so much good news and being late... TWICE! however, stripping your membranes is nothing, i would do that. if it doesnt work, no biggie. if it does... WAHOO! good luck with everything and i hope he comes before christmas so you can be home by then! sure miss your sweet face and happy attitude!

Thanks, Linds, I needed a good laugh! that is seriously the funniest and most truthful comic I've seen in a while. Hang in there and just enjoy the ride. He'll come when he's supposed too (ha ha, easy for me to say, I totally felt like you are feeling with the twins. I just wanted them out now!! Soooo.. no advice here, I just feel bad for you because the back pain is so terrible to deal with. It's hard to stay positive when it feels like a knife is going in and out of your back 24/7. Hang in there. I'm praying for you and hope things all go really smooth.

Lindsay, I am a slacker of friend and old neighbor, I didn't know you had a blog and just found it off Alicia's. I am so excited for you! I got induced with both my girls, but I remember when I would walk around Yorkshire that would get contractions going...but still no baby came for me. I don't know if I would recommend walk this time of the year, but that is the only thing I can think of that helped me! We wish you the best!!

I can not believe you're 38 1/2 weeks! Crazy!

Now that you're on maternity leave, come on over and we'll go through clothes if you still want them.

Love you!

My water broke at 38.3 weeks, so I don't have any advice. Even pitocin couldn't get me to contract for about 8 hours-good luck though! Hope to see you soon!

It has been so fun to follow your pregnancy on your blog...Uncle Greg has gotten a kick out of it as well! Hey, you're almost there and I can guarantee you that the minute they put that little guy in your arms, every pain and discomfort you have felt is instantly forgotten! This is all such an incredible miracle, is it not? We'll be praying for you!
